This Philips Norelco model is in the lower to middle price point, but incredibly versatile, very popular, and is reviewed very positively by hundreds of satisfied owners on Amazon.com.
In fact, I was surprised to see how good it was, considering it’s an All In One system, which I find typically give up quality on the actual beard trimming side of things in order to fit in all the extras. So instead of a great beard trim and nothing more, you get an OK beard trim, an OK sideburn sculptor, an OK nose hair trimmer, etc. That doesn’t seem to be a big concern if you get the Philips Norelco G370 All-in-1 Grooming System.
Norelco is the brand name of shavers and other care products used by Philips. Philips, a Dutch company, has been making electric shavers since 1939, but marketing to the States was delayed until 1948 thanks to WWII. The company itself has been around since the late 1890s, so it comes with a long tradition and history of innovation and success.
This unit comes with six attachments (and I’m not talking about comb guard attachments), which include a full sized trimmer, hair clipper comb, a mini shaver, a beard and mustache trimmer, a nose/ear/eyebrow trimmer and a precision and detailing trimmer.
This is a good pick if you have the most intricate beard design in the world, or if you just like to have the right tool for the job, no matter what section of your beard you’re grooming.
The actual beard and mustache trimmer will get you 9 settings, ranging from 2mm to 18mm, so it’s actually got a decent range of lengths. When you’ve got the right length down, you’ll have no problem cleaning it up on your neck and cheeks, and ensuring a fine (and smooth) finish along the edges with one of the other options like the mini shaver or the detailer.
Another surprising thing is the amount of use people get out of this trimmer. It’s usually under $40 on Amazon.com, and is unashamedly considered to be one of the less expensive and less robust models out there. However, multiple users are getting 3-5 years out of this machine, which is amazing for the price and the fact that it’s cordless. It comes with a 2 year warranty, too, so if something does go wrong, you’ll be able to get it replaced.
The operating life on each charge leaves something to be desired, with a 10 hour charging cycle giving you just 35 minutes of grooming time. This is at the low end of cordless rechargeable beard trimmer battery life. Normally, this won’t be a problem if you’re just using it to trim your beard, but as this is an All In One grooming system, you might run out of juice in the middle of your maintenance. Waiting for a full charge will mean you’ll be sitting at home all day half shaven waiting for the thing to get back into working order – not cool. But again, for most needs, particularly a regular beard trim, the battery life won’t become an issue. Just remember to plug it in after each use.
As I mentioned above, it’s surprising how good this trimmer actually is, particularly for being an All In One.
While there are sturdier, tougher, and better cutting trimmers, this is a very functional, easy to use, generally long-lasting and extremely wallet-friendly option that gives you a little bit of everything to ensure that your beard is exactly as you want it to be. With 500 5 out of 5 star reviews by real users on Amazon, it’s hard to dispute the quality and usefulness of the Philips Norelco G370 All-in-1 Grooming System.
