Wahl 9854-600 Beard Trimmer All-In-One Lithium Ion Review

Woman thy name is vanity, or so they say. But aren’t men vain too? When it comes to trimming beards, men are perfectionists and rightly so. The Wahl Lithium Ion All-In-One Trimmer can almost live up to its name and be called an all in one solution to the trimming needs of men. Why almost? Well, merely because there will always be picky people who have specific needs that may not be met with this product. Let’s take a look at what it has to offer.

It may be small but it packs power into every inch yet still maintains its light weight. There is some vibration and noise but that’s to be expected, it is not going to be too much for your ear and it’s the same noise level as with most trimmers.

The lithium battery is superb and in a pinch can be used even with just a few minutes of charging. If you charge it fully for the first time, it can last six uses or more. The battery is anticipated to be long lasting but in time, moisture may leak inside. If you are mechanically handy with such things, you can open it up and cover the leads and chips that are exposed with a spray on or liquid coat to waterproof it. It also includes a compact power adapter which helps when you need to bring it on a trip as it will neatly fit into one of the pockets of your bag.

The main purpose of course is to trim beards, sideburns, mustaches and a whole lot of body hair, wherever it may be. Shaving or cutting your thick head of hair is not one of its main attractions but it is fantastic for shaping or trimming the edges. The dual foil shaver head can execute a near perfect shave and is ideal for use when traveling.

Beard trimming is a breeze despite the need to switch to different attachments unlike some trimmers where you can just press a button to switch lengths. The width of the head is a bit narrow which is not to use when you are aiming for a quick trim but more for a precise and accurate one. You can use it even for the edges of your mustache but careful of the blade or you may find yourself with a little less lip than before you started. The blades are made of carbon steel and need some oil occasionally but you’d have the advantage of longevity if you take care of it.

Hairs on the nose, ear and eyebrows are usually a test of fortitude to trim but this trimmer has special attachments that are a dream to use. It does take a little bit of experimenting if you are a novice in using this particular brand since there are 17 attachments in all with a tray to keep it all organized but you’ll soon catch on. The design is made for efficiency and versatility.

Since there is no comb attachment for the eyebrows and some people find the built in guide a little shorter than they prefer, a work around is to use the main blade with the shortest guide attachment and glide it very cautiously over your brows. Otherwise, you might just surprise everyone by appearing at the office sans brows.

Careful when packing it for travel as there is no blade protector. You might want to find a pouch the size of a sandwich bag to get it all in when you travel. If you are at home and not using all the attachments, you can take some of it and keep in a drawer to keep the tray from appearing jam packed and overwhelming.

It includes a blade comb and tiny bottle of oil to remind you that like you, it also needs to be cleaned regularly.

Should you have any problems with it, the Wahl customer service team will be happy to assist you with or without warranty. All in all, the Wahl 9854-600 Trimmer All-In-One Lithium Ion Beard Trimmer is one terrific product that’s worth buying.
